1. Do I need to book in advance?

Definitely! To ensure you get the time and game you want, it is best to book in advance online. Although we occasionally have room for walk-in groups, the games can fill up quickly and walk-ins are handled on a first come, first serve basis. Don’t be the guy who can’t play because he forgot to book!

2. How do I book tickets and pay?

Simply fill out the online form by selecting your game and entering your player and payment information. All games are paid for online at the time of booking through credit or debit. Once your transaction is complete you will receive a confirmation email.

*Note: You may be paired with other players if your group is smaller than the maximum capacity allowed for the game.

3. How much does it cost?

Ticket price: $30 per person, plus taxes & fees.

Student (Under 18) or Senior (65 & Over) Discount: $25 per person, plus taxes & fees.

College Student or Military Discount: $25 per person, plus taxes & fees (must show current college or military ID at check-in).

Show Us Your Badge or Film Perks Pass Discount: $25 per person, plus taxes & fees (must show convention badge or film pass at check-in).

4. How many players can play at once?

Up to eight players can participate in a game. It is not necessary to make up the full number of players in order to participate.

5. Will I be playing with players I don’t know?

If your group is smaller than the maximum capacity allowed for the game, you may be paired with other players because it’s easier to solve the mission with more brainpower! Remember Momma always said, “Two brains are better than one and so are two boxes of chocolates!”

6. How do I book my friends at the same time?

You can book your entire group at once by selecting the number of players in your group and filling out the online form. This will ensure that every member of your group is placed in the same game for the same time slot.  If members of your group decide to book separately, please note that other groups may be booking at the same time and could fill the available spots.

7. Is it possible to play with just my friends?

Yep! You can play privately by purchasing all the tickets up to the maximum capacity. Unless you book all the tickets, you may be paired with other players that book the same time slot, so if you prefer to play privately, the way to guarantee this is to book the entire game.

*Note: If all the tickets are not available, this means someone else has already purchased some of the tickets, and you will need to find another time slot for your private event.

8. Where are you located?

We are conveniently located on Franklin Square across from City Market at 31 Montgomery St., Savannah, GA. Situated on the corner of Congress & Montgomery Streets, the entrance is through the Congress St. door. Close to shops and dining, we are in a historic building from the 1860’s in a part of town that is well lit, safe, and secure. Nearby businesses include: The Rail Pub, Boomys, & Congress Street Social Club.

9. What are your hours?

Wednesday 3-8 PM, Thursday/Friday 3-11 PM, Saturday 12-11 PM, Sunday 12-8 PM. Closed Monday & Tuesday to the general public. Corporate and Event Groups can be accommodated Monday through Friday starting at 10 AM.

10. Do you have parking?

Numerous street meters and parking garages are located nearby. After 5:00 pm and on weekends, meter parking is free. The County Courthouse Garage is one block away at the corner of Montgomery and Broughton Streets. The City of Savannah Robert E. Robinson Parking Garage is two blocks away at the corner of Montgomery and W. York Streets. We’re a pedestrian friendly city, so just walk or grab a pedicab if you’re staying nearby!

11. What should I wear?

We suggest clothes, but if anyone in your group comes dressed as a pirate or artist, we’ll give you five extra minutes of time for doing so.

12. What is the difficulty level?

All of our games have been designed to be challenging and require a variety of skills and abilities. Not everyone is able to solve the mission, but don’t worry because your main mission is just to have fun!  We offer different difficulty levels, so you can design your own experience! Our Pirate game is great for first time players, families, and tourists. If you’re up for a bit more thinking, you’ll want to try our moderately difficult Museum game. Students and corporate groups love the team building and camaraderie required to work through the puzzles.

13. Is the game physically challenging?

The games are designed to be mentally stimulating rather than physical. However a fair amount of mobility is required as you may be bending down, lifting objects, or reaching overhead for clues. We wouldn’t describe it as strenuous, but you will definitely be moving around a lot.

14. What should I expect at check-in?

At Encryption, if the door is closed, there’s a special trick to gaining admittance -you need to know the password! Follow these directions and you’ll be in the door before you know it! Step 1. Come to our Congress St. green door, Step 2. Ring the doorbell, Step 3. When we ask for the password say: KeyClockLock.

Next you’ll be receiving your game mission and meeting your assigned Cryptologist who will go over the rules, brief you on your mission, and have you sign our waiver. Then get ready for an adventure of a lifetime!

15. What if I’m running late?

We get it, sometimes traffic is bad or stuff happens, however if you are playing in a non-private group and the game has already started, you will not be allowed to interrupt the game nor be granted a refund. If you are playing privately, your group will be allowed to play but being late could cause you to have less than 60 minutes to play. So be on time, ‘cause you’re going to want your full 60 minutes and the full Encryption Experience!

16. Do you offer refunds, and what is the cancellation policy?

No-shows and late arrivals are non-refundable. Cancellations 48 hours prior to the commencement of the game, as listed on the e-mail confirmation, will be refunded. No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance of the commencement of the game. However, if you contact us at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of the game, we will do our best to reschedule your game.

17. Do you sell food or beverages?

Nope, but Vinnie Van Go-Go’s Pizza is across the square. Please be advised no food or beverages are allowed in the game rooms.

18. For what age range are the games designed?

Due to the intellectual nature of the games, we recommend our games for age 12 to adult, but players of all ages can enjoy the experience; however we do not allow children under the age of six. Players under 18 must be accompanied by one paying adult and will need to have a parent or guardian sign a waiver on their behalf: Waiver for minors under the age of 18.

19. How long is the game, and how many games is my ticket good for?

A game lasts no longer than 60 minutes, unless you get extra time for being cool and dressing like a pirate! Argh! However you should plan to spend one and a half hours at our facility because your Encryption Experience starts with a game mission briefing session and ends with time to take photos and a debriefing or as the non-victorious call it -finding out the answers! Your ticket is good for one game. However if you have a free afternoon, you are welcome to book more games and have a marathon experience.

20. Do I need to bring anything?

If you are under the age of 18, you will need to bring your waiver signed by your parent or legal guardian and your group must be accompanied by one paying adult; otherwise there is nothing you need to bring. If you do bring any personal belongings, baskets have been provided in the game rooms for small items like keys, phones, and purses.

21. Can I take photos or video during the game?

No photography or videography is allowed, but you’ll have a photo session with us afterwards when you sign our Autograph Wall.

22. Are there special effects?

There are lighting effects during certain games but no strobe or flashing lights. Also there are a few “surprise” effects.

23. Can you accommodate large groups or corporate events?

24. Can my group have more people than the maximum game capacity?

Our games are designed for the stated capacity listed, so we don’t recommend playing with more than the limit because some players could find themselves without much to do. However, if you have booked a private event and would like to have an extra player join your group, please contact us and we may be able to accommodate your request.

25. Am I really locked in?

No, call us crazy but we suspect some people would freak out if we did that! The door you enter the game through is always left unlocked. Remember this is just a game, and BTW you’re not really a pirate either!

26. Will I be in any danger or is it scary?

You think battling pirates will be easy? Just kidding! Didn’t you read #25? Seriously though, staff members do not jump out at you or touch you in anyway. We’re not creepy like that! We don’t stay in the room with you, but you will be monitored by video cameras in case you need a clue or get stumped on a particular puzzle.

27. What if I need to leave the room for some reason?

Sometimes nature calls at inopportune times, so you may leave the game at any point if you need to but be advised the clock does not stop and your team continues on without you.

28. Can I use my cell phone during the game?

No, Bro, technology is not allowed during the game because using your own mental skills and getting unplugged is the whole point! If there is an emergency because you are “like” a brain surgeon or something or if you really, really need to take a call from that cute guy you’ve been stalking –you may step out of the game room to do so. Once again, be advised the clock does not stop and your team continues on.

29. Can I book a time not available on the website?

Certainly! However this is considered a private event and you must purchase all the tickets for that particular game up to the maximum capacity. Please call (912) 424-5774 and one of our Cryptologists will be happy to assist you.

30. What happens if I don’t follow the rules?

Seriously? You’re going to be that guy? The RULES, such as not climbing on the furniture or sticking a fork into an electrical outlet, have been designed to ensure you have a great experience. Remember you are monitored by camera so we will know if rules are broken! Failure to abide by the rules will result in being pulled from the game without a refund. Your experience is our highest priority, so please follow the rules. Actually having a good time is our highest priority, but your experience is a close second!
